Jonathan P. Alcott’s collection of North Carolina art includes both a traditional component and a contemporary component. It has been on loan to several museums in the southeast, including the North Carolina Museum of History.
The exhibition is entitled “Scent of the Pine, You Know How I Feel” after the song “Feeling Good” made famous by Nina Simone.
Stars when you shine, you know how I feel
Scent of the pine, you know how I feel
Yeah, freedom is mine, and I know how I feel..
It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new life for me
And I’m feelin’… good.
